New Cutting Table
I finally cracked! Or at least my knees and back did! π΅π»
At 11pm last night I decided I could no longer live without a high surface in my studio for cutting out paper patterns and fabric. While it has been nifty being able to spread out a full 4+ meter fabric layplan onto the floor up until now, my old aching bones are protesting hunching down all the time.
So in the dead of night I cleared my sewing table and raised it up into a cutting table. And despite limited space I have determinedly wedged it into one corner of my studio. Ideally I would like to have at least 2 of these tables side by side (or maybe even 4 nestled together ππ€€). One day in a future studio perhaps, but for now at least itβs a step up.
If Iβm honest it never was the best table for my sewing machines anyway because the wooden trestles were bulky and took up leg room, plus the dimensions were ill-suited: simultaneously not wide enough/too deep. I had to keep scooting the machines over to the side to free up space and my projects were always half dangling off one side of the table, which isnβt great as it creates tension; all that weight pulling/stretching/warping the fabric. And it was unnecessarily deep, jutting too far into the room and taking up valuable space.
Iβve ordered another table from Ikea which is comparatively skinny and long, just the way I want it. I really hope it will be sturdy enough π€π¬ and be better suited to the space and purpose. Iβve also ordered an A0 size cutting mat for the cutting table so I can finally get my rotary action on. Exciting times people π€βοΈπ
