Sewalong: #esmadebyme #clydejumpsuit

Seem to be systematically working my way through ALL the jumpsuits πŸ˜…

I put it down to time efficiency when getting dressed for school runs in the morning because class starts at 7:55am here in Bavaria (πŸ₯±πŸ˜΅β€πŸ’«πŸ˜΅πŸ˜³πŸ˜±πŸ˜πŸ€―).

This is, of course, the #esmadebyme #clydejumpsuit aka the Mum Suit (just made that up) instantly recognizable by those deeeep crescent pockets, princess seamlines and cocoon fit.

The undefined silhouette is taking some getting used to if I’m honest, but then again trying out different styles is turning out to be half the intrigue of sewing.

Also the colour, which is pretty much bang on my Mum’s NHS nursing uniform circa 1980s, is quite out there for me. (I guess I’m Batman when it comes to denim: I only wear black. Or very dark grey.)

But this fabric was a bargain as it had weird grid-like fade marks from being displayed too near the window in the store, so I thought I’d give it a try. Should I leave it out on the balcony to become even more sunbleached do you think? πŸ€”

Made a size M Tall with legs lengthened by a further 5cm (My measurements: 178cm/5,10” B: 94cm/37” W:77cm/30” H:100cm/39”) It ended up too baggy for my liking so I skimmed 1.5cm(5/8”) off of the four princess seams (but NOT the cf and cb seams).

Thought about doing a nursing hack (button placket/front zip/shoulder snaps) but skipped it in the end. I can just about shimmy out of one strap at a time to breasfeed. Admittedly not the most practical. Also toyed with subbing in thin fabric for the pocket facings to reduce hip bulk, but since my last project was quite involved I just didn’t at all feel like mucking about. πŸ’πŸ»β€β™€οΈ

This project was absolutely satisfying to make as it came together so quickly, and it’s definitely comfy to wear so that’s a win in my book!
